There are a lot of ways to find businesses on the Internet, probably the commonest is Yellow Pages. It was a migration from the printed book, but now has extensive additional details, including maps, links, and descriptions.

Why directories are used

Directories started as a good way to find companies before Google dominated the search market. Now, they are a means of getting "votes" to another website as Google uses a PageRank system to list websites. Directories still have a use in terms of looking at them for company names, but the immense power of Google has really made that function almost completely redundant.

Review

In this review, Sayworth is looking at the Business Directory. The site has 133 pages listed in google, this can be seen by using site:www.business-directory-uk.co.uk in google.com. Compare this to Amazon which has 18,000,000 pages or Yell.com which has 125,000. So 133 pages is not very many.

I will look mostly at Bathrooms and Kitchens since Sayworth is really about bathrooms. The bathroom section has about 10 businesses listed and several of them are all from one company called Masco. Masco is a huge company which owns Bristan and most of its goods are sold via large companies, like Jewsons, Plumbase, Plumbcenter.

The site is well laid out and easy to use, but it lacks a search option, and has limited data. To improve it needs a search options, and a lot more pages showing business details.
